Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower young learners and make a lasting difference as a Special Education Teacher in a center-based Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) classroom. This full-time contract position spans the 2026-2027 school year, offering the opportunity to lead and support K-2 students in a highly supportive, specialized environment focused on behavioral growth and academic success. Take on a pivotal role in guiding a small caseload of approximately six students, where your instructional expertise and behavioral knowledge shape a positive, structured classroom. Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule, providing direct service and leadership alongside skilled classroom support staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required Strong preference for EBD licensure Demonstrated experience with students exhibiting significant behavioral needs Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs Skilled in behavioral intervention, de-escalation strategies, and classroom consultation Effective communication and collaborative problem-solving abilities Experience in K-2 center-based special education classrooms a plus Familiarity with PBIS, CPI, restorative practices, or trauma-informed instruction desired
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small group instruction for students with complex social-emotional and behavioral needs Lead classroom management using evidence-based behavioral supports Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and BIPs in partnership with the team Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service personnel, and families Utilize restorative and trauma-informed approaches to foster student growth Offer ongoing classroom and behavioral consultation and guidance This is a fulfilling opportunity to work full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
