Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Kick off the 2026-2027 school year with a rewarding contract position as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students from kindergarten through high school in a welcoming educational environment. Required Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field Active South Dakota K-12 Special Education teaching certification Previous experience working with K-12 students with a range of exceptionalities Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement varied instructional strategies Excellent communication abilities to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Flexibility and adaptability to meet individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction across multiple grade levels (K-12), predominantly elementary students, with some middle and potentially high schoolers Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and staff Monitor, document, and report on student progress toward goals Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth Maintain consistent communication with parents, administrators, and support staff Participate in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities Enjoy the benefits of a manageable caseload and the chance to work within a supportive school community.
