Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling opportunity supporting students with diverse learning needs in a welcoming educational environment. This contract assignment offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and tailored support to elementary-aged children, ranging from PreK through 6th grade. You'll be working within a resource room setting, guiding a manageable, rotating group of students—typically no more than ten at a time—who present a variety of abilities and needs, including other health impairments, autism, learning disabilities, hearing impairments, and severe/profound cases.
Key Qualifications:
Hold a valid Special Education Certification (SPED cert). Experience with writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, lesson plans, and student grading. Background working with PreK-6th grade students with special needs in a school setting is strongly preferred. Adaptable, collaborative, and responsive to evolving classroom dynamics. Excellent organizational and communication skills.Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction within the resource room setting. Develop and implement IEPs, behavior plans, and lesson plans. Maintain regular communication with parents, general education teachers, and school staff. Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. This assignment runs from early August through late May, offering a standard full-time schedule of approximately 37.5 hours per week. The school calendar uniquely features frequent Fridays off, providing a balanced routine along with meaningful professional experience at a single elementary school site.
