Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding career where you'll make a lasting impact as a Junior High Special Education Teacher. With a supportive school community near Ree Heights, South Dakota, this contract opportunity offers you the chance to nurture growth and learning for students in grades 7-9. Working 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, you'll collaborate with colleagues and families to create an environment where every student can thrive. As a valued member of the team, you'll serve a caseload of 12-15 students, balancing both push-in and pull-out support models to address diverse learning needs.
What You'll Bring:
Valid South Dakota Special Education K-12 teaching license Previous experience supporting junior high or middle school students preferred Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom culture Excellent communication and organization skills
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction in a variety of settings Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Monitor and document student progress, modifying instruction as needed Communicate consistently with parents and staff to promote student success Employ creative strategies to engage and motivate learners Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities What's in It for
