Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This contract opportunity runs from August 3rd to May 20th and offers the chance to work in a supportive environment with an experienced staff. You'll work a steady 37.5 hours per week, with the added perk of many Fridays off, providing excellent work-life balance.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education (SPED) certification required Experience working in a resource room or similar special education setting preferred Strong skills in developing IEPs, lesson planning, and creating behavior plans Ability to work with a diverse student population, including autism spectrum, learning disabilities, other health impairments, hearing impairments, and severe/profound cases Comfortable writing grades and delivering instruction to small groups (typically fewer than 10 students, PreK-6th grade) Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction in a dedicated resource room setting Rotate through groups of students, adapting materials to address individual needs Develop, implement, and maintain IEPs, lesson plans, and grading for each student Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to encourage positive student outcomes Design and monitor individualized behavior plans Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
