Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a contract Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year.
We have two unique opportunities:
one opening at the middle school level (6th and 7th grade) focusing on a resource/coteaching model, and another early childhood position working with children from age 3 through 1st grade. In the middle school setting, you'll collaborate closely with colleagues and serve 11 students with learning disabilities and other health impairments, building their skills in reading, math, and executive functioning. The early childhood classroom comprises 12 students (8 attending full day) who present with higher needs, including autism spectrum disorders and vision challenges. For the younger group, there's also a component of homebound instruction. Both positions begin August 21st, running Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (37.5 hours weekly).
Ideal candidates will have:
Valid Wisconsin teaching credential—either a multi cross-categorical special education license or EBD (Emotional Behavioral Disorder) certification Experience supporting students with a range of disabilities including LD, OHI, autism, and vision impairment Flexibility to adapt instruction and work environment to meet student needs, including homebound teaching when needed Strong skills in differentiated instruction, literacy, math, and executive functioning strategies Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative classroom community Responsibilities include: Plan and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals Co-teach and provide resource room support in middle school Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate records Support students in both group and one-on-one settings Participate in IEP meetings and advocate for student needs Step into a supportive environment where your expertise will make a meaningful difference.
