Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students to succeed in a supportive, specialized learning environment as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact for students with a range of educational needs across elementary and secondary settings. Multiple openings are available for onsite positions focused on behavioral, emotional, and life skills classrooms.
Ideal candidates will have:
Valid Texas SPED certification (non-negotiable), with a Generalist or Self Contained Endorsement Experience working in specialized settings—behavior units, self-contained autism support, or life skills classrooms Ability to develop and implement effective behavior intervention strategies Strong collaboration skills for working alongside fellow educators, therapists, and families Passion for fostering both academic achievement and social-emotional growth in K-12 students Compliance with district and state special education policies and protocols
Role Highlights:
Serve as lead teacher in one of several self-contained classrooms (Behavior Unit, SAIL-Autism Focus, or Secondary Life Skills) Provide instruction aligned with the general education curriculum, modified to individual student needs Address academic and behavioral goals, and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) Use data and observation to monitor student progress, making instructional adjustments as needed Support students with emotional disabilities, OHI, autism, or developmental/challenging behaviors Collaborate with school teams and participate in IEP meetings and family conferences Make a positive difference while engaging with a dedicated team of professionals. This is a full-time, onsite role (37.5 hours/week) spanning the school year from August 3, 2026 to May 27, 2027.
