Sep 1, 2026 Job Description Special Education Teachers will implement the IEP, using instructional programs which have particular emphasis on, language-based instruction, lesson plans which address student IEP goals, and apply MHA lesson planning criteria, and integrated, interdisciplinary, and thematic instruction. Responsibilities All Special Education Teachers will- submit written narrative progress reports one week prior to the mailing date noted on the school calendar
- submit report cards and updated IEP's by the last day of each quarter, unless otherwise specified by the Education Director
- submit data regarding student progress, relative to the IEP goals, or individual students' needs, as directed by the Education Director
- submit written weekly lesson plans and unit plans to the Education Director during supervision meetings, if requested
- submit an individualized professional development plan to the Executive or Education Director by October 31 of the school year
- attend scheduled meetings with the Educational Director, scheduled parent conferences, scheduled IEP and IEP development meetings
- attend professional development workshops, which may consist of job-embedded projects and activities; specific attendance to be determined by the employee's PDP requirements, and the Executive and/or Education Director
- attend staff meetings aimed at developing integrated, interdisciplinary, and thematic curriculum
- attend weekly all-staff meetings (copies of the agenda and meeting notes are emailed to all staff).
- attend all school events
Expectations:
- Teachers will develop all IEPs using accurate, updated data, in conjunction with other MHA and LEA colleagues, and other members of the student's team, including parents. IEPs will be implemented as approved by the student's team and parent(s).
- Teachers will manage students and the classroom in adherence with the positive behavior support procedures as outlined in the policy and procedures manual.
- Teachers must keep current with MHA events.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education from an accredited university
- A valid MA educational certification
- Strong communication skills
- Evidence of a strong commitment to the mission of MHA
