Children's Institute for Learning Differences (CHILD) is 501(c)(3) non-profit agency located in Renton, Washington. Our mission is to provide innovative school programs, therapies, and training that promote social, emotional, and academic development for children with special needs. At CHILD, the focus is on developing a set of durable core strengths: increased levels of self-regulation, an increased ability to maintain relationships, and increased coping skills to help children achieve ongoing resilience. CHILD employs a project-based curative curriculum with integrated arts, videography and outdoor education. Special Education Lead Teacher:
This is a full time, year round position (2080 hours per year). This position is responsible for planning and implementing programming to support the academic, emotional, social, and behavioral growth of students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Washington State Teaching Certificate Special Education Endorsement 2 years or more experience working with children with special needs Knowledge and experience with Special Education laws and documentation (i.e. IEPs, BIPs, FBAs, etc.) Experience implementing curriculum/programming that is aligned with the student's IEP. Experience with state testing requirements and experience of adapting curriculum and materials for students Positively support the school's model of care, policies and practices, and work collaboratively in a professional organization. Truthful, positive, and purposeful when communicating with others Competency using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Adobe Able to use strong written and oral communication skills to transfer thoughts and express ideas Flexible and adaptable in dealing with new, different or changing requirements Maintain confidentiality and security of information. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
