Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher guiding high school students in grades 9-12 for the upcoming academic year. In this role, you will work across a single school building, supporting students through a blend of categorical instruction and co-teaching within the general education environment. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, inclusion, and fostering student growth, making this an excellent fit for educators who are passionate about making a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students enrolled in special education services Teach a designated categorical special education class Co-teach collaboratively in general education classrooms, supporting diverse learners Implement and monitor progress toward IEP goals and accommodations Work closely with school staff, families, and related service providers, ensuring all students' needs are met Maintain up-to-date documentation and track student progress Participate actively in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions Utilize a generous 85-minute daily planning period for collaboration and lesson preparation
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification or licensure Previous experience serving high school students is highly desirable Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills Capacity to address a wide range of learning styles and behavioral needs This position spans August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, for a total of 35 hours per week (7:45 AM - 3:30 PM schedule), offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the lives of high school learners.
