Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a multi-categorical classroom. This full-time, contract position runs for the 2026-2027 school year and is focused on creating an inclusive, caring environment in which each child can thrive. If you're passionate about making a meaningful difference for learners with diverse needs, this role offers the chance to teach, collaborate, and grow in a dynamic educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals Differentiate lesson plans and adapt curricula to meet a wide range of learning styles and needs Implement effective behavior support strategies and classroom management techniques Work closely with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure holistic student support Monitor student progress, document growth, and maintain all required compliance records Take an active role in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team collaborations
Desired Qualifications:
Current South Carolina Special Education certification, or eligibility to obtain certification Experience supporting elementary-aged students, ideally in a multi-categorical setting Strong skills in classroom management and instructional differentiation Collaborative mindset and excellent communication abilities This position provides the opportunity to make an immediate impact while collaborating with a supportive school team.
