Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the lives of K-5 students as a dedicated special education teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, in-person role is an excellent opportunity to work with elementary-aged children and help them reach their fullest potential in a supportive and rewarding environment.
Key Qualifications:
Current credentials as a Special Education Teacher (or eligibility for certification) Previous experience working with elementary (K-5) students, preferably in a school setting Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs), assessments, and instructional strategies tailored to diverse learning needs Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills Flexibility and a patient, positive approach towards students of varying abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Foster a productive and nurturing classroom environment that encourages student growth and self-confidence Design and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with students' IEPs, adapting instructional materials as needed Develop strong partnerships with general education teachers, administrators, and families to support each child's success Track student progress, complete documentation, and participate in IEP meetings Deliver engaging, hands-on activities to help students develop academic, social, and life skills Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture Enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping students grow academically and personally.
