Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to provide dedicated support for a third-grade class in an elementary school setting. This long-term substitute position runs from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave. The role offers full-time hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing you to make a meaningful impact during the academic day.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering individualized instruction tailored to students with special education needs Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment Monitoring and documenting student progress in compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Utilizing differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learner abilities Coordinating with support personnel such as paraprofessionals or behavioral aides when available Qualifications and experience desired: Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably third grade Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices Ability to engage and motivate young learners with individualized approaches Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Portsmouth, Rhode Island - working within a single elementary school environment.

Full-time contract position covering a confirmed open vacancy starting mid-September Support from district-provided para-professionals or behavioral staff as applicable On-site interview process with timely offer and onboarding procedures including background checks.
