Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with diverse needs for the upcoming school year. Two Special Education teaching positions are available: one for a middle school resource/co-teaching assignment (6th and 7th grade, 11 students), and one in Early Childhood (ages 3 through 1st grade, with a group of 12 students, 8 attending full-day). These roles focus on positively impacting the lives of students with learning disabilities, other health impairments, autism, vision challenges, and those requiring higher-level supports.
Key Qualifications:
Current Wisconsin teaching certification in Special Education, EBD, or a multi cross-categorical license Experience working with students with learning disabilities (LD), other health impairments (OHI), autism, and higher needs Familiarity with implementing reading, math, and executive functioning interventions Comfort with resource room, co-teaching, or self-contained classroom models Experience with early childhood special education is highly desirable Ability to provide instruction across varying needs, including homebound support for young learners Strong communication skills and teamwork-oriented mindset
Role Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver individualized instruction and support in reading, math, and executive functioning Collaborate with general education and special education staff for effective co-teaching at the middle school level Design and adapt curriculum and materials to meet diverse student needs Complete compliance documentation, progress monitoring, and data collection to support IEP goals Engage families with regular updates on student progress Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development Provide homebound educational services as needed for early childhood students This contract position begins August 21st and follows a traditional school schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
