Speech Language Pathology Clinic Director Location Demorest (Main) Campus JobType Full-Time Faculty - 12 Month Job Number 202600151 Division College of Nursing andHealth Sciences Department Rehabilitative Sciences Opening Date 04/07/2026 Description Founded in 1897, Piedmont University is a private, comprehensive liberal arts university with an enrollment ofapproximately 2,000 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia. Description The Clinic Director provides leadership, administration, and oversight for the Speech-Language Pathology clinical education program andthe department's on-campus speech and hearing clinic. The position ensures high-quality clinical training for graduate students whilemaintaining compliance with accreditation standards established by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-LanguagePathology and certification requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The Clinic Director coordinatesclinical education experiences, supervises clinic operations, manages clinical faculty and supervisors, and ensures that student cliniciansobtain the competencies required for ASHA certification and state licensure. The position also supports community engagement through theprovision of evidence-based clinical services. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Clinical Education Administration Coordinate and oversee all internal clinical education experiences with theclinical and community placements for graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program. Coordinate and collaborate withthe Director of Clinical Experiences / Director of Clinical Education. Ensure clinical training meets all standards set by theCouncil on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and certification requirements of the AmericanSpeech-Language-Hearing Association. Develop and implement policies and procedures for clinical education and supervision. Track and verify student clinical hours, competencies, and documentation required for certification and licensure. Coordinatestudent clinical placements including on-campus and off-campus practicum experiences. Clinic Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of the university speech and hearing clinic. Oversee scheduling of clients, clinical supervisors, andstudent clinicians. Ensure all clinical faculty/staff/students are trained on compliance with HIPAA, university policies, andprofessional ethical standards. Supervise clinic support staff and graduate assistants. Coordinate with Program Directoron clinic budget, billing procedures, and resource allocation. Clinical Supervision and Faculty Support Train, and evaluate clinical supervisors and adjunct clinical faculty. Provide mentorship and professional development for clinicaleducators. Facilitate training related to clinical supervision, evidence-based practice (related to supervision), and studentevaluation. Collaborate with academic faculty to integrate clinical and academic curricula. Accreditation andCompliance Maintain documentation required for accreditation and program assessment. Collaborate with theDepartment Chair and faculty in preparing reports for the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Monitor clinical education outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with university, state licensure,and professional regulations. Student Support and Evaluation Monitor student clinical performanceand competency development. Coordinate with supervisors and clinical leadership to address clinical performance concerns andimplement remediation plans when necessary. Provide orientation and guidance for student clinicians regarding clinic policies andexpectations. Typical Qualifications Education andExperience Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or CommunicationSciences and Disorders (doctorate preferred). Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) fromthe American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology. Minimum of 2 years of clinical supervision experience with graduate student clinicians. Demonstrated knowledge of accreditationstandards of the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Experience in clinical programadministration or clinic management. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or clinical doctorate)in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field. Experience managing a university speech and hearing clinic. Experiencecoordinating off-campus clinical placements. Experience with clinical education technology platforms and electronic healthrecords. Evidence of leadership in clinical education, service delivery innovation, or program development. Licenses and Certification Eligibility for state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology. Valid GeorgiaDriver's License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR. Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities Working knowledge of teaching courses in a higher education environment. Ability to combine severalpieces of information and draw conclusions. Ability to use reasoning to discover and answer problems. Skill in using original,unusual, and/or creative ways to solve problems. Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Work will be performed inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily fromtemperature changes. Incumbents will perform primarily sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligibleamount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Incumbents willregularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day. Incumbents must have close visual acuityto prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
