  • Friday Job Overview The Sr.
EH&S Director plays a key role in executing assigned EH&S tasks. This includes ensuring the health & safety of team members, the protection of the environment, and the protection and reputation of the Company. Key Responsibilities Manage all EHS programs for Byrne DeWitt, Byrne Cortlandville, Dry Storage Warehouse, Cold Storage Warehouse, Ice Cream Center, and Non-DOT Logistics operations to minimize risks to employees, contractors, customers, and the environment. Responsible for oversight of the wastewater treatment operations teams and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support team members with the effective management of sludge byproducts. Responsible for the oversight of all environmental programs including air permits, wastewater permits, and stormwater management programs. Responsible for establishing and achieving continuous improvement goals in the areas of safety, quality, performance, production, and cost reduction. Responsible for developing and implementing corporate and/or plant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Responsible for leading the Company's Corporate Safety Committee and providing monthly updates to key business leaders with respect to key issues and performance metrics. Manage EHS plans and incorporate new or changing elements into the existing plans for all operations. Support the review and needs for EHS elements in all new projects and monitor needs for managing ongoing changes. Develop and administer appropriate EHS training as required by regulation or policy or in support of site-specific EHS programs or initiatives. Responsible for oversight and compliance with

regulation and
OSHA RMP
regulation for ammonia refrigeration systems. Support the ongoing development and implementation of the Company's Sustainability Program, working with other disciplines such as Engineering to identify new opportunities to reduce costs related to energy consumption and waste reduction. Evolve the development of KPIs and metrics that demonstrate progress towards Company goals. Participate as necessary in Internal or external compliance evaluations of new or existing facilities, equipment, products, or programs. Develop and implement fire safety programs and manage insurance company inspections as required. Oversight and accountability for the Contractor Safety Program, supporting Engineering and Maintenance teams with monitoring the ongoing safety performance of contract workers. Develop and implement EHS data acquisition, management, and communication tools. Oversee the incident management systems and ensure that all incidents are investigated and that appropriate corrective actions are employed to prevent recurrence. Coordinates with the Human Resources team to manage worker compensation programs. Responsible for maintaining OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping requirements and submitting data to OSHA as required. Communicate and maintain appropriate EHS metrics necessary to meet governmental requirements as well as provide internal customers with performance and analysis reports. Work effectively with other support groups (facilities, security, engineering, quality, etc.) to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of the EHS program and to ensure related programs are consistent and complement each other. Perform periodic compliance audits of facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company procedures. Manage EHS spending and budget in accordance with site financial guidance and policy. Manage and train subordinate employees or contractors in accordance with applicable company policies. Approve all chemicals to be brought on-site for use and ensure that handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals are compliant and safe. Min. Qualifications Minimum of BA/BS degree in engineering or technology(environmental/health/safety.) Minimum of 6 years of direct EHS experience. Understanding of food manufacturing equipment, technology, and processes a plus. Understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations. Byrne Headquartered in LaFayette, Byrne is a Central New York-based dairy company with a legacy spanning over 90 years. Its operations include an extended shelf-life (ESL) and ultra-high temperature (UHT) pasteurization plant in DeWitt, as well as an ESL manufacturing facility in Cortlandville.
