Sr. Project Accountant at commercial contracting firm

401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Simco Mechanical Inc. , a growing full-service mechanical contracting firm, is seeking an experienced Sr. Project Accountant with a strong background in construction accounting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of full cycle accounting, monthly financial reporting, and strict adherence to accounting processes. This position is on-site in Altadena, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee accounts payables, accounts receivables, and published reporting integrity and all historical accounting activities. Actively participate in day-to-day activities such as journal entries, reclassifications, accrual & prepaid management and reconciliations. Manage strict processes in AR/AP, billing, releases and government compliance. Produce efficiencies and recreation in processes and control. Streamline construction accounting processes, including job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition. Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of projects. Work in partnership with the parent-companys team on processes & procedures and cadenced reporting requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred). 3+ years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and construction accounting best practices Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
