Job Description

Position Summary Delta Health is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and managing key payroll functions. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, payroll processing experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with financial regulations. This role supports a variety of accounting and administrative functions including accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll processing, reporting, document management, and audit preparation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including invoices, receipts, and accounting documentation. Sort, categorize, and file financial documents electronically and physically. Assist with all aspects of the Accounts Payable workflow. Support general ledger and bank reconciliations. Assist with preparation of journal entries. Verify, prepare, and distribute remittances for posting teams. Research and resolve account discrepancies. Support daily balancing of worksheets, deposits, and financial tracking tools. Assist with cost reporting and audit documentation preparation. Maintain and update credit card terminals. Perform quarterly audits of all change funds. Assist with year-end record storage and document organization. Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, department leaders, and executive leadership on financial inquiries and reporting needs. Answer phones, take messages, and redirect calls appropriately. Payroll Responsibilities Enter and maintain payroll information within the timekeeping system. Process bi-weekly payroll and special payroll checks accurately and timely. Process payroll garnishments and deductions. Reconcile payroll, including PTO general ledger accounts. Create payroll GL batches and support month-end close activities. Process payroll tax payments and prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings. Prepare reconciliations for accounts receivable and employee benefits. Maintain HRIS timekeeping and payroll systems, including system updates related to policy changes. Assist Human Resources with HRIS administration and ACA reporting. Stay current on IRS regulations related to payroll withholding and reporting requirements. Fiduciary Responsibilities The Staff Accountant serves as a fiduciary of the organization and is expected to act in the organization's best interest at all times.

Exercising loyalty to the organization above personal interests Demonstrating reasonable care, diligence, and sound judgment Acting in good faith and with integrity Ensuring fair and honest dealings in all business matters Disclosing material information when appropriate Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred Additional coursework in healthcare finance, business administration, or auditing preferred Associate degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5 years of accounting experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree Understanding of accounting principles and financial processes Experience with payroll processing, timekeeping systems, and payroll reporting Strong organizational and filing management skills Skills & Qualifications Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Basic bookkeeping, accounting, and mathematical proficiency Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and patient information Working knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including wage and hour compliance and payroll deductions preferred Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and 10-key by touch Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to use accounting and bookkeeping software efficiently and effectively Preferred Qualifications Healthcare accounting or payroll experience preferred Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes Familiarity with ACA processing and reporting Why Join Delta Health?
