Summary The Staff Accountant provides financial information to management through research, analysis, reporting, and accurate maintenance of accounting records. This role is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, and job costing functions for a fabrication and construction environment. The position assists in maintaining accurate financial data related to production costs, inventory, labor, and project profitability while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Supervisory Responsibilities None Reports To Controller Duties / Responsibilities Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Documents financial transactions by entering account information accurately and timely. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Supports preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Performs cost accounting activities related to fabrication and construction operations. Maintains and analyzes standard costs, labor costs, material costs, and overhead allocations. Tracks and monitors job costing for fabrication and manufacturing projects to ensure accurate cost accumulation and profitability reporting. Assists with inventory accounting and inventory reconciliations. Collaborates with operations and production personnel to ensure accurate reporting of manufacturing and job-related costs. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents and maintaining supporting records. Maintains financial security by following internal controls and company procedures. Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements. Assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing functions as needed. Processes invoices for payment and verifies coding accuracy. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and maintaining adherence to requirements. Assists with external audits and provides supporting documentation as requested. Protects company operations by keeping financial information confidential. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills / Abilities Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting. Knowledge of cost accounting and job costing principles is preferred. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Education and Experience Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience preferred. Manufacturing, fabrication, or cost accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience accounting system software, Oracle / NetSuite preferred. Basic Requirements Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have dependable transportation to get to work. Must be able to work various hours and weekends when required. Physical Requirements Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical & drug test). Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
