Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Memphis, Tennessee. This role is ideal for someone who can manage day-to-day financial activities accurately while helping maintain compliance across corporate and sales tax processes. The successful candidate will contribute to reliable reporting, organized records, and timely completion of essential accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data accurate and current.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Manage sales tax reporting activities and help ensure filings are completed correctly and on schedule.
• Reconcile financial accounts regularly to confirm completeness and accuracy of accounting records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including documentation and account analysis.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for reporting and tax-related work. Requirements
• Experience working in a staff accounting or similar accounting support role.
• Knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and preparation support for tax returns.
• Understanding of sales tax processes, reporting requirements, and related documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard spreadsheet tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
