Staff Accountant (or Property Accountant) About Our Client Our client is a private real estate investment firm specializing in the acquisition, leasing, and management of industrial real estate. With a disciplined, patient, and defensive investment approach, they focus on delivering stable cash flow returns to a loyal base of high-net-worth investor partners while maintaining a high-touch approach to asset management across a growing portfolio of industrial properties. Position Summary Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their finance team in Carmel, Indiana. This role will support the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for the firm s industrial property portfolio. While experience in property accounting is preferred, our client is fully prepared to train the right candidate who brings a strong foundation in general accounting principles. Key Responsibilities Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Support property-level accounting tasks such as tenant billing, rent collection, expense allocations, CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, and lease administration (training provided if needed) Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and ad-hoc reporting for management Collaborate with the property management and operations teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Assist with annual audit preparation, tax support, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required 2+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property accounting experience strongly preferred) Solid understanding of GAAP principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with property management or accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) is a plus Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment CPA or CPA candidate a plus What Our Client Offers Competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package Opportunity to grow within a successful, growing investment firm Collaborative team environment with experienced finance and operations professionals Exposure to a dynamic industrial real estate portfolio and meaningful contribution to strategic decision-making If you are a proactive accounting professional looking to build or expand your expertise in property accounting within the real estate investment sector, we encourage you to apply.
