The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Steel Detailer/Draftsman proficient in Autodesk Inventor to join our production team. You will be the bridge between design concepts and the fabrication floor, creating the technical blueprints that allow our shop to build beautiful, structurally sound ironwork.

Key Responsibilities Modeling & Drafting:

Create accurate 3D models and detailed 2D fabrication drawings (shop drawings) using Autodesk Inventor .

Technical Accuracy:

Generate comprehensive assemblies, sub-assemblies, and part drawings including weld symbols, material callouts, and hardware specifications.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the customers and fabricators to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing (DFM).

Field Integration:

Incorporate field measurements into models to ensure perfect fitment during installation. Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare accurate material lists and cut sheets to streamline procurement and production.

Problem Solving:

Identify potential design clashes or structural issues early in the drafting phase and propose viable solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications Software Mastery:

Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is a non-negotiable requirement. Experience with iLogic or Sheet Metal environments is a significant plus.

Industry Knowledge:

Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding symbols, and ornamental iron standards.

Mathematical Precision:

Strong grasp of geometry and trigonometry for calculating complex angles and stairs.

Detail Obsession:

A "measure twice, cut once" mindset. You must be able to spot a 1/16" error before it hits the saw.

Communication:

Ability to explain technical drawings to fabricators and translate architectural sketches into workable shop drawings. Preferred Experience Experience in ornamental ironwork (railings, gates, spiral stairs). Prior experience working directly in a fabrication shop environment.
