Role:
The Steel Receiving - plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient receipt of steel materials at our facilities across the United States. This position is responsible for verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders, inspecting materials for quality and compliance, and coordinating with internal teams to facilitate smooth inventory management. The specialist will serve as a key liaison between suppliers, warehouse personnel, and production teams to maintain seamless operations. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent discrepancies and ensure the integrity of the supply chain. Ultimately, this role supports the overall manufacturing process by guaranteeing that steel materials are received correctly, on time, and in optimal condition.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in receiving, inspecting, or handling steel or heavy materials in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Basic knowledge of inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify material discrepancies or defects. Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely and follow safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle. Familiarity with steel industry standards and quality control procedures. Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Receive and inspect incoming steel shipments to verify quantity, quality, and compliance with purchase orders and specifications. Document and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to the appropriate departments and suppliers. Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure proper storage and handling of steel materials. Maintain accurate records of all received materials using inventory management systems and software. Collaborate with procurement and production teams to schedule deliveries and resolve any receiving-related issues. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during the receiving process. Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize receiving procedures and reduce errors.
