$15.00 to $16.00 per hour to start Growth potential up to $20.00 per hour Smoky Mountain Sk8way has an exciting hands on STEM field trip program for local schools, and we are looking for an energetic, outgoing, dependable person to help teach it, improve it, and grow it. This is not just a teaching position. This is a growth opportunity for someone who loves working with kids, enjoys hands on science, and feels confident talking with teachers, schools, and administrators about bringing more students to our program. The right person will help deliver high energy STEM lessons during field trips, create fresh interactive experiments, and help increase the number of schools booking STEM trips with Smoky Mountain Sk8way. You will not be on your own. We have an experienced support team onsite to help with setup, transitions, materials, transitions, and group flow so you can focus on teaching, student engagement, and helping the program grow. What This Position Can Become This position starts part time and has strong growth potential. As the program expands, this role may grow into afterschool STEM programming, summer camp teaching, school outreach, and possibly a full time leadership role. This is a great fit for someone who wants more than just an hourly job. We are looking for someone who wants to help build something. Pay and Growth Path $15 to $16 per hour Training and Assistant Instructor Learns the program flow, co teaches lessons, supports demonstrations, helps with setup, and works with staff support while learning how to deliver a strong STEM field trip experience. $17 to $18 per hour STEM Instructor Independently leads lessons with confidence, manages groups well, keeps students engaged, and delivers a consistent, exciting, hands on field trip experience. $19 to $20 per hour Lead STEM Instructor and School Outreach Lead Excellent lesson delivery, strong student engagement, dependable, helps improve experiments, communicates professionally with teachers, and actively helps book new schools into the STEM program. To reach $20 per hour, the person must not only be a top performing instructor, but must also be actively helping bring in new school bookings and grow the number of STEM field trips. Teach 1 hour STEM sessions with clear instructions, strong pacing, and confident group management. Keep students engaged, excited, and participating. Help create and improve safe, repeatable, age appropriate experiments with a strong wow factor. Communicate with teachers and school staff in a friendly, professional way. Help promote the STEM program to schools, teachers, and administrators. Visit or contact schools to explain the program and encourage bookings. Help increase the number of STEM field trips booked at Smoky Mountain Sk8way. Support afterschool STEM and enrichment programs as they grow. Grow into a summer camp STEM or STEAM teacher role. Work with our team to create a smooth, organized, exciting field trip experience. We Are Looking For Someone Who Is Energetic and upbeat. Great with kids. Comfortable speaking in front of groups. Confident, friendly, and professional with teachers and school staff. Dependable and organized. Creative with hands on activities. Able to manage groups with kindness and confidence. Excited about growing a program, not just teaching a class. Comfortable helping promote the program to schools. Willing to bring ideas, energy, and initiative. Preferred Experience Experience teaching or leading STEM activities with kids. Experience in schools, camps, enrichment programs, museums, childcare, tutoring, or youth programs. Strong classroom or group management skills. Comfortable adapting lessons for different ages and group sizes. Able to set up simple materials and demonstrations. Education, science, engineering, or related background is a plus, but not required with strong experience.
