Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Contract Skilled registered nurses with a strong stepdown or progressive care background are sought for a contract opportunity to provide comprehensive care to acutely ill patients. You will work with a diverse group of patients, from pediatrics to those recovering from advanced cardiac procedures or complex surgeries. The role involves coordinating care needs, managing advanced equipment, and serving as a clinical resource for both staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver care to medically stable or predictably unstable patients, including those with CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, sepsis, and post-surgical needs Use advanced medical equipment such as central/arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilators, and multiple IV pumps Conduct thorough assessments and interventions for evolving or acute patient needs Oversee and adjust IV medication therapy including heparin, milrinone, diltiazem, amiodarone, dobutamine, and dopamine Interpret EKGs and basic cardiac telemetry, and respond to emergent changes in clinical status Provide direct care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes Act as a clinical mentor, assisting with precepting and supporting new or developing staff Give guidance to nursing and support staff, and take direction from providers and leadership as needed Support the medical-surgical unit as a flexible and skilled care team member
Qualifications:
Current Montana RN license BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (or obtained within 6 months of hire) EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred Experience managing advanced nursing equipment and critical care medications Competence in pediatric and post-cardiac cath care strongly preferred Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning, and evidence-based nursing procedures This contract position offers an engaging opportunity to provide high-level care and leadership in a dynamic clinical setting.
