Position Summary:
The position is responsible for the laundry production and distribution for Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex (KJCC). The incumbent directly supervises 4-8 juvenile offenders assigned to the laundry detail. The incumbent ensures enforcement of applicable safety and security requirements including pat searches, key control, tool control, and offender movement. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Directly supervises juvenile residents. Responsible for the total laundry production and supervises the operations of the various departments of the laundry to ensure all linen/clothing is properly processed through the laundry equipment, folded, counted, and packed out daily. Maintains quality control by checking outgoing linen/clothing to assure both quality and quantity have been maintained throughout the operation of the laundry. Trains new juvenile offender workers in proper laundry operating procedures, how to operate laundry equipment efficiently and safely, and cross-trains all workers. Observes juvenile resident workers to see if they are following proper procedures in operating the laundry equipment efficiently and safely. Motivates juvenile resident workers to perform their duties to the best of their ability and to meet the production needs on a daily schedule. Plans and assigns the work of employee/juvenile resident workers in each department of the laundry, seeing that the proper amount of linen/clothing is packed out to be delivered to all units based upon their quotas/requests or the amount of linen/clothing that was sent to the laundry for processing. Oversee the delivery of linen/clothing to ensure the units have the proper amount in their area. Responsible for the processing and shipping of all wearing apparel, seeing that it is being processed through the proper equipment and is folded or bagged to be returned to the units. Ensure that all procedures are followed so that the laundry can supply the proper amounts of clean and sanitary laundry/linen to the agencies served to meet the needs of their consumers and staff. Requires knowledge of laundry procedures, knowledge of all equipment operations and safety practices, and knowledge of state and facility personnel policies. Assigns, reviews, evaluates the work, and communicates in a clear, concise manner, both in person and in written format, with both laundry staff and officials of the agencies served. One or more years' successful and verifiable experience in laundry operations and/or staff.Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
