The Structural Design Engineer provides technical expertise and performs engineering work in support of structural system design and project execution. This role serves as a staff engineer responsible for assignments of intermediate complexity within a multi-discipline engineering environment. The position supports design development, engineering analysis, and technical coordination to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Structural Design Engineer performs engineering tasks involving analysis, design, and development of structural systems to support project objectives. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing specifications, design criteria, and engineering calculations for structural components such as foundations, steel, and concrete systems. The role analyzes technical problems and provides solutions in alignment with project requirements and engineering standards. The engineer collaborates with project management, other engineering disciplines, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and support project execution. Additional responsibilities include supporting procurement activities such as preparation of scopes of work, evaluation of technical bids, and review of vendor submittals. The role also provides support during construction by responding to RFIs, assisting with field changes, and ensuring design integrity during execution. The position contributes to project execution by tracking material quantities, assisting with estimates and schedules, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.WORK HOURS
A standard 40-hour work week is expected. Additional schedule details will be provided by the client. Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required. Experience /Skills:
Minimum five (5) years of related structural engineering experience Working knowledge of structural engineering principles and analysis methods Experience supporting industrial, commercial, or EPC projects Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical engineering solutions Strong communication and coordination skills Candidate must possess experience with: Structural analysis and design of foundations, concrete, and steel systems Engineering calculations including structural loading (wind, seismic, and dynamic analysis) Structural modeling and analysis tools such as STAAD, STAADPro, or RISA3D Development and review of engineering design documents and specifications 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools used in multi-discipline environmentsOTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizenship required Ability to work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience supporting DOE or Federal Government projects Nuclear facility design experience under NQA-1 requirements Practical field or construction experience Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or similar environmentsACTION REQUIRED
