Terms of Contract:
10 months, full-time, benefit eligible 1-year contract (2026-2027) with option of renewal for up to 5 years pending grant approval.

Monthly Salary:
State Salary Schedule commensurate with licensure (Teacher or Support Personnel schedule as applicable, plus local 9% supplement)

Qualifications/Requirements:
Must hold a current North Carolina license in one of the following areas: School Social Worker, School Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Experience working with at-risk youth, substance use prevention, or community health navigation preferred.
Goal:
To provide targeted, district-wide support for students at highest risk for substance use and related challenges. This position serves as a dedicated bridge between the school system, families, and community-based health and social services, ensuring that vulnerable students receive consistent mentoring and that parents have a committed partner in securing appropriate interventions.
Duties:
Manage a targeted, district-wide caseload of students who have exhibited documented risk factors. Priority populations for this caseload include, but are not limited to: students returning from out-of-school suspensions, students with severe chronic absenteeism, students experiencing trauma and families who have explicitly requested assistance. Act as a family navigator by working directly alongside parents to identify and address social determinants of health, removing logistical and systemic barriers to care. Provide direct connections and supports for families to the Lincoln County Health Department, local substance abuse resources, and other community resources. Collaborate and consult with community agencies, non-profit partners, and public health stakeholders to build and maintain a current resource network, identify service gaps, and coordinate wraparound support for students and families served by this position. Offer mentoring and follow-up support for students on caseload to ensure continuity of care between school, family, and community services. Collaborate with building-level administrators, school counselors, and social workers to identify students appropriate for referral to this caseload. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation for all students served in compliance with FERPA and applicable state and federal requirements. Collect, maintain, and submit accurate data required for grant compliance and reporting, including documentation of student contacts, services rendered, and referrals made. Complete required professional development, including attendance at the North Carolina Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Studies (NCFADS) Summer or Winter School and ongoing state•and federally-endorsed continuing education. Submit all required district, Health Department, and state grant reports in a timely and accurate manner. Uphold all requirements of the NC Parents' Bill of Rights in all interactions with students and families. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift object Other duties as assigned.
