May 17,2026 Student Engagement Coordinator Harn Museum of Art University of Florida Gainesville, Florida Job Summary The Harn Museum of Art is seeking a Student Engagement Manager to develop and implement public educational programs for college students and adults, cultivate student volunteer teams (Interns and Museum University Student Educators—MUSEs), and partner with faculty, student organizations, and community groups to broaden museum attendance and learning. The role combines program innovation, volunteer leadership, gallery teaching, budgeting, and cross departmental collaboration. Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Job Description:
  • Program Development & Research o Conceptualize, train and oversee the MUSE (Museum University Student Educator) program which includes creating and leading student-led art-based activities for Museum Nights.
o Create and administer adult programs for students and community members to include Museum Nights, lectures, symposia, gallery talks, civil dialogues, workshops, and campus outreach events. o Collaborate with curators, educators, faculty, artists, and community partners to enrich programming.
  • Conduct & Manage Programs o Plan for visiting artists, scholars and performers in connection with public education programs.
o Organize and lead academic class tours and presentations for a wide range of college disciplines. o Represent the museum through interaction with university faculty and staff; maintain professional affiliation with colleagues at university art museums and galleries nationwide; attend and present at professional conferences. o Recruit, train and supervise a corps of student volunteers for the education department, and provides oversight for the paid internship program.
Expected Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
  • Experience and/or advanced degree in art education, arts administration, art history, education, student engagement or related field
  • Knowledge of art history and interest in a wide range of art.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed, organized and career minded; ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technology and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students in a university gallery or museum
  • Two - four years of arts administration or museum education experience
  • Knowledge of methods of data collection; Ability to compile and analyze data for administrative decisions
  • Experience with business processes, budgets, and grants Licenses & Background Checks
