May 26•May 28 or June 1•June 3 Camp Cardinal within the Department of Recreation and Wellness is seeking energetic and enthusiastic Seasonal Camp Counselors to help create engaging, safe, and inclusive experiences for children of all ages and abilities. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with youth, leading recreational activities, and contributing to a positive camp environment. Position Overview Camp Counselors are responsible for fostering a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where campers feel safe, included, and encouraged to grow. Counselors will lead and participate in sports, games, activities, and field trips while promoting teamwork, positive behavior, and camper well-being. Key Responsibilities Supervise campers and ensure their emotional and physical safety at all times Lead and participate in sports, recreational games, group activities, and camp programming Plan, organize, and implement engaging activities for camper groups Encourage positive social interaction and help manage camper behavior appropriately Follow all camp safety procedures, policies, and guidelines Work collaboratively with fellow counselors and staff to support daily camp operations Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies or incidents Support the mission and values of Recreation and Wellness programs Minimum Qualifications High school graduate preferred or at least 16 years of age Experience working with youth, preferably Grades K-12 Interest in youth development, recreation, and camp programming Knowledge of or enthusiasm for sports, games, and group activities Previous camp or recreational experience is a plus Must be available to work a minimum of 7 weeks during the camp season Attendance at one mandatory staff training session is required Physical & Safety Requirements Ability to actively lead group activities and participate in physical play Strong visual and auditory awareness to effectively monitor camper safety Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations Ability to work outdoors and remain active throughout the camp day Why Join Us?
