Job Description

Position Summary The Salvation Army Noble Corps is committed to "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include support with food, clothing, utilities, rent, securing housing, and both short- and long-term case management, as well as connections to community partners. The Summer Day Camp Coordinator supports a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children and youth by assisting with the daily operations of the summer day camp. This position ensures activities run smoothly, safely, and in alignment with the camp's mission and goals. Working closely with leadership, programming staff, campers, and families, the Coordinator contributes to a fun, inclusive, and well-organized camp experience for all participants.
Wage:
$18.50 an hour, 40 hours a week 10011 Noble Parkway, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443 Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Program & Staff Support (60%): Assist in creating and implementing daily camp schedules and programming. Coordinate with staff to organize materials, set up activities, and ensure smooth transitions. Provide guidance and daily feedback to support staff and maintain a positive, structured environment. Camper Supervision & Engagement (15%): Supervise campers during activities, meals, and transitions. Foster a positive, supportive environment and address behavioral or safety concerns promptly. Parent & Camper Communication (10%): Assist with daily check-in and check-out, communicate camp policies and updates, and ensure accurate attendance and payment records. Logistics & Facility Oversight (10%): Monitor supplies, maintain organized spaces, and ensure readiness of camp areas and materials. Assist in planning and coordinating offsite excursions. Health, Safety, & Emergency Response (5%): Ensure adherence to safety procedures, respond to minor injuries or incidents, and complete incident reports as needed. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, recreation, child development, social work, or a related field preferred. 1-2 years of experience working with children in a camp, school, recreational, or youth program setting preferred; previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred (training provided if not certified). Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR requirements. Competencies Provides supportive leadership and communicates clearly with staff, campers, and families. Demonstrates sound judgment, organization, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Promotes inclusion, teamwork, and a positive, faith-based camp culture. Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and alignment with The Salvation Army mission in all interactions and work activities. Working Conditions Active, physical environment primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities. Requires standing, walking, bending, and participating in physical activities for extended periods. May involve lifting or carrying supplies (up to 25 lbs.). Noise level ranges from moderate to high depending on activity. Requires regular availability during program hours, which may include early mornings or late afternoons. On-site role; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide daily guidance and support to camp staff and volunteers. Lead activities or supervise camper groups as needed. Report performance or safety concerns promptly to leadership. Travel/Driving Requirements Regularly drives agency vehicles to transport participants, supplies, or staff to and from activities, field trips, and other designated locations. Frequent travel within the metro area to support the mission and program operations.
