The Nutrition Services Assistant is responsible for food preparation, cooking, cashiering, paperwork, following retail food establishment/HACCP, requesting food items from the Nutrition Services Department, ordering/inventorying, putting away food orders, serving food, restocking lines, and clean-up after lunch. Attend trainings. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and district clientele.
Salary:
Classified Salary Schedule � Range is $17.68 - $27.40 per hour.
FTE:
20 hours a week, Monday-Thursday. This position will start June 8-June 25, closed June 29-July 3, and start back on July 6- Jul 16, 2026 Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Experience supervising children is preferred but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Criminal background check required for hire. First Aid and CPR certifications in the school setting are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Professional and efficient meal prep, hold, presentation, and service to all patrons. Process transactions using the point of sale register system. Prepare menus from recipes as directed. Prepare any items that require extra prep time for the next day. Set up and break down lines after lunch, and clean kitchen. Prepare bank deposit slips, paperwork for deposits, production, and HACCP paperwork. Hold, clean up and store all menu and ala carte items in service areas after serving according to HACCP, national, state, and district compliances. Inventory milk after each meal service and record the data on the production sheets. Do milk order twice a week. Sweep and mop storeroom and coolers, scrub, polish, clean and maintain all kitchen equipment as needed for proper upkeep. Perform regular monitoring of temperatures and procedures when operating all equipment such as computers, dish machines, coolers, freezers, food holding areas, ovens, thermometers, and other kitchen equipment in compliance with HACCP regulations. Maintain Professional Standards as required under the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act. On rare occasions may be required to drive a district van or vehicle. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Attend all in and out of house training. Must be willing to test taste food to ensure quality. Must be able to manage all kitchen eqiupment within 2 months of hire. Genral knowledge of cash register procedures The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to read a recipe May be required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, snow)."

Language Skills :
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondence to other employees or supervisor as needed. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondence to other employees or supervisor as needed. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to follow direction and perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
