Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Supervising Pharmacist to lead our pharmacy team and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. In this vital role, you will oversee daily pharmacy operations, uphold regulatory compliance, and foster a collaborative environment focused on patient safety and service excellence. Your expertise will drive clinical initiatives, manage medication therapies, and support staff development to meet the diverse needs of our community. Responsibilities Supervise pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and pharmacy laws. Lead clinical pharmacy services such as medication therapy management, patient assessments, immunizations, and pain management protocols. Oversee inventory management, including medication procurement, storage, compounding medications, and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations. Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, providing expert advice on drug interactions, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology. Utilize pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient care activities accurately and efficiently. Conduct patient service activities such as medication administration guidance, patient education, and assessments in various settings including LTC (Long-Term Care), pediatrics, critical care units, and hospital environments. Manage pharmacy technicians by providing training in pharmacy operations, medication dispensing procedures, IV infusion techniques, and inventory control. Ensure compliance with safety standards related to IV insertion, aseptic technique, and medication handling in accordance with hospital policies. Support the implementation of immunization programs and maintain documentation aligned with healthcare regulations. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing patient care outcomes. Experience Proven experience in a hospital or acute care setting with a focus on LTC pharmacy or critical care environments. Completion of a pharmacy residency program emphasizing clinical pharmacy practice and patient-centered care. Demonstrated expertise in clinical pharmacy services such as pain management, immunizations, pediatrics, and medical management strategies. Strong background in pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR), inventory management tools, and sterile compounding procedures. Experience with HIPAA compliance standards related to patient privacy and data security. Prior supervision or leadership experience within a pharmacy team is highly desirable. Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to medication administration routes including IV infusion techniques. Ability to perform patient assessments effectively while utilizing medical terminology accurately for documentation purposes.
