Summary :
The Supervisor, Laboratory Services is accountable for providing clear daily expectations, workflow direction, and staffing oversight. Ensures that requirements for quality, safety, and service are met or exceeded. Performs laboratory tasks as needed to ensure timely collection, processing, and resulting of specimens.
Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Is accountable for day-to-day supervision of department and ensures the highest quality standard for results. Analyzes, develops, and implements methods and systems to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. Implements focus on quality, clinical care, education, and research, delegating as necessary to meet patient demands. Models behavior and service standards, ensuring service expectations are understood by team, and that team members are properly trained. Provides input to the strategic planning process. Models clinical and ThedaCare policies and standards. Coaches others to adhere to federal and state regulatory agency requirements to ensure the highest quality standards. Supervises the daily activities of laboratory departments through managing daily workflows and assignments. Schedules team members, and delegates and redirects team member assignments in accordance to daily workflows. Understands workflows to proactively anticipate barriers and recommends efficiencies and Improvements. Interprets and evaluates data to improve the delivery of a quality product or service through process observation, measurements, benchmarking, and tracking. Responds quickly to resolve operational or team member situations, by resolving conflicts and escalating difficult situations or problematic issues to the manager. Serves as subject matter expert for ThedaCare Laboratories.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree Four years of laboratory experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in a medical setting with high risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, and biohazardous materials Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients Use of computers throughout the work day Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers Onsite Leadership. Position to include approx. 20% time in the work (Tech, Phlebotomy, Processing depending on the candidate) and potential lead an area of service. Position is part of the leadership team of the Waupaca Campus and the system Laboratory. Leadership experience preferred, MLT/MT preferred. FTE for department 13.8. 2500 Draws per month 28,000 Tests performed per month
