Supervises, instructs, and trains subordines in the performance of work. Makes assignments, checks progress and adequacy of work, and determines need for changes in the office. Evalues the analysis interpretions and conclusions developed by subordines. Grants leave, hires new employees, and is responsible for the effective operion. Evalues work performance of subordines. Ensures equal opportunity for subordines in the selection of participants for training, promotions, awards and recognition, and other career development opportunities. Directs, coordines, and manages the merial readiness program. Responsible for overall direction, coordinion, and management of the surface equipment meriel readiness program and training of maintenance personnel. Provides quality assurance measures for ste meriel readiness programs. Reviews reports for stus of readiness. Serves as the surface maintenance course manager. Determines career development needs and coordines with the Surface Maintenance Manager and the Budget Advisory Committee to program funds for full time support and unit maintenance personnel training/schools. Plans, develops, and manages the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction (MAIT) program to provide necessary training and development of unit personnel. Responsible for the development and presention of class merials. Reviews training reports, staff reports, and inspection reports to determine areas of weakness in support of units/ activities. Develops and directs implemention of mission support plans for new weapon systems or equipment entering the ste's inventory for their impact on the surface maintenance community. Determines the impact on maintenance facilities, training, special purpose tools and test equipment, budget, etc. Determines requirements; coordines and manages new equipment training, displaced equipment training; and funding and/or maintenance training requirements. Coordines full time support personnel training with the Human Resources Office. Coordines training requirements with other staff sections. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience th provided a knowledge of the characteristics, uses, and properties of equipment. This experience may have been gained in trades or crafts, engineering technician, production control, inspection, or other work reled to the specializion of the position to be filled.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have least 36 months experience, educion or training overseeing and implementing a program involving the identificion and resolution of difficult issues or problems in a maintenance function. Experience preparing budgets based on plans for maintenance, repair work, new construction alterion projects, replacement of existing equipment, or increase in services and processes to ensure program effectiveness. Experience, educion, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment. The experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology. A basic knowledge of mechanical principles reling to equipment. Experience must demonstre the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical publicions. Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, educion, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automion systems. OR 1-year equivalent to least next lower grade level •Note:
