Position Summary The Surgical Billing and Medical Office Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring smooth office operations and outstanding patient experiences. This position involves direct patient interaction, surgical scheduling, insurance verification, billing processes, and close collaboration with physicians, staff, and referral sources to maintain efficient workflow and HIPAA compliance. Key Responsibilities Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and handle pre-certifications. Collect payments, post transactions, manage accounts, interact with billing service Schedule appointments and coordinate surgical procedures. Greet patients, manage check-in/check-out, and provide excellent customer service. Handle phone inquiries with professional etiquette and timely responses. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure full HIPAA compliance. Support office flow by working collaboratively with team members and physicians.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting (surgical or multi-specialty preferred). Proven experience with benefits verification, authorizations, medical billing, claims follow-up, and accounts receivable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD coding basics, and insurance processes. Proficiency with practice management software, Microsoft Office, and general computer skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Essential Skills and Attributes Excellent oral and written communication skills with superior telephone etiquette.
