In this energetic role, you will support the sushi chefs by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring that every plate meets our high standards of quality and presentation. Responsibilities Assist sushi chefs with ingredient preparation, including slicing fish, vegetables, and other components using proper knife skills. Support food handling and safety procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. Help with meal preparation and plating to ensure timely service during busy hours. Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards. Assist in organizing supplies and ingredients to streamline kitchen operations. Participate in menu planning discussions by providing input on ingredient availability and presentation ideas. Support catering events or special functions by preparing sushi components and assisting with setup. Qualifications Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is advantageous but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential. Experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service environments—particularly within restaurants or the food industry—is highly valued. Strong knife skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques are preferred. Knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling practices is important for maintaining hygiene standards. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting culinary staff.
