Job Description

Description AWS Manufacturing & Repair operations is focused on automated assembly solutions where innovative solutions are needed to accelerate overall manufacturing time. We work backwards from customers to increase critical capacity for AWS services by improving yield and reliability while reducing cycle time. This new highly cross-functional initiative brings together critical expertise from a wide-range of Amazon teams dedicated to meeting and exceeding customer expectations through innovative validation processes and Amazon operational excellence. We are seeking a System Admin Engineer to support the networking architecture that underpins our operational ecosystem—spanning assembly automation, security hardware deployment, and testing infrastructure and structure at AWS scale. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Facilities Infrastructure and Corp IT teams to architect network solutions that deliver operational excellence for critical infrastructure supporting global cloud operations. As a System Admin Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for supporting, implementing and trouble-shooting a high-scale network system with automation and code. You'll support systems that achieve scale through automated, repeated processes that maintain system health with minimal human involvement, while ensuring strong network resiliency across our infrastructure. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the teams who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. Come join our team and be a part of history as we deliver results for the largest cloud services company on Earth! Key job responsibilities You'll build software solutions to manage infrastructure needed to operate systems at large scale, owning root cause determination and remediation of issues in partnership with internal software, hardware, and networking development teams. Your deep knowledge of networking design will enable you to build systems around network constraints, with experience in building highly available networks and understanding network security principles and security technologies. As an operational leader, you'll be sought after for a wide range of impacting events across systems, able to clearly and crisply communicate customer and business impacting events to leadership while providing expertise to resolve impacts. You'll dive deep into ambiguous problems and write code/software to eliminate risks at high scale, providing guidance to system or service owners through operational reviews to identify anti-patterns with detailed examples to prevent production impact. You'll develop new patterns needed for unique system implementations and establish requirements for other technical teams necessary to meet performance, reliability, or cost goals. Your role extends to mentoring and providing guidance through software designs and code reviews, performing deep level risk analysis, and driving operational excellence across the organization. Working cross-functionally, you'll partner with Facilities Infrastructure teams on physical network infrastructure requirements, collaborate with Corp IT on enterprise network standards and security policies, and engage with security teams to ensure network architecture meets compliance and security requirements. You'll identify and directly resolve network failures across multiple networks, understanding network security principles and security technologies including TLS, Firewalls, and Intrusion Detection.
