Position Summary:
To provide high-quality learning opportunities and instruction to secondary students and foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
Qualifications:
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Teaching experience preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build positive relationships with students. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Commitment to professional growth and development. Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Create a positive and supportive learning environment that is conducive to student learning. Manage classroom behavior effectively. Assess student learning and provide timely and constructive feedback. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues. Participate in professional development activities. Maintain accurate and timely records. Adhere to all school policies and procedures.

We are seeking a dynamic leader who wants to be more than a coach; we are looking for a program builder who will integrate into our community and lead our student-athletes toward becoming prepared, responsible graduates.
JOB OBJECTIVE
To lead the VHS program to foster athletic excellence, academic integrity, and character development. The Head Coach is responsible for the "Hornet Standard" identity from the Varsity level down through our middle school and local youth leagues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership:
Maintain thorough knowledge of VPS Board policies and OSSAA regulations. Supervise the entire 6th-12th-grade boys' vertical.
Instructional Excellence:
Use the court as a classroom to teach technical skills, strategic thinking, and the "Hornet Way" of sportsmanship.
Community Integration:
Actively support and coordinate with local Little League and City programs to ensure a consistent support system for youth athletes.
Administrative Management:
Manage departmental meetings, grievances, and requests through the proper administrative chain of command.
Safety & Welfare:
Establish training rules and unique regulations to ensure student-athlete safety, including maintaining CPR/First Aid certification.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Employment:
Must be employed as a certified teacher within the Vinita School District.
Education:
Preferred Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Education.
Certification:
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate; OSDE and OSSAA Certification/Training required.
Leadership:
Proven ability to organize, advise, and support a staff of assistant coaches.
Experience:
Substantial knowledge of technical aspects of the game and a track record of program development.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Relational Leadership:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the Vinita community.
Judgment:
Ability to make responsible, compassionate judgments regarding student safety and confidential matters.
Physicality:
