May 12, 2026 All Teacher Assistants, Computer Lab Managers, and Additional Educational Assistants require one of the three options: Workkeys with a passing score of Level 2 & Para Pathways with a minimum score of 456 Workkeys with a passing score of Level 2 & 60 credit hours (official transcripts required) Bachelor's Degree (official transcripts required) Please call 803-739-4048 to schedule an appointment to complete the assessment. Scores must be uploaded under "Additional Materials" in the application packet.
SUMMARY:
Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned. Assists in small group pupil instruction; tutors pupils at teacher's request. Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions. Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units. Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions with the teacher. Assists in assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current. Operates standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc. Assists in after school and academic assistance lab. Encourages proper student behavior in accordance to school collective commitments
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), a passing score on the WorkKeys Assessment Test and complete at least one of the following three requirements: At least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education; or An associate's degree (or higher); or An approved State or local academic assessment that measures the paraprofessional's knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction of the following subjects at the appropriate level, i.e. ParaPro .
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Previous work in child care. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
