JOB GOAL
To create a classroom environment characterized by an understanding of the unique academic enrichment needs of students; to establish a cooperative working relationship with parents and other staff members; to maintain an effective rapport with students; to provide instruction geared toward the development of process skills enabling pupils to become more autonomous learners.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides professional leadership within the school, community, and education profession to improve student learning as well as support district and state initiatives. Demonstrates content knowledge within assigned discipline(s) or program and in applications to other disciplines. Plans, implements and assesses instruction designed to develop students abilities to use certain skills, apply core concepts, become self-sufficient individuals, become responsible team members, think and solve problems and integrate knowledge. Assesses student learning using a variety of tools consistent with Kentucky's Assessment Program; communicates results to students, parents and staff making referrals for extra services as necessary, uses assessment results to design appropriate instructional activities. Creates a learning climate that supports student achievement and safety. Evaluates teaching effectiveness based on student achievement in relation to student attainment of Kentucky's learning goals. Uses technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents and the community; and conduct research/solve problems. Participates in required training relative to teaching assignments, supervisor approved professional growth plan, school/district initiatives, or as directed by the Principal. Supervises students to ensure student safety. Secures and makes use of school and community resources. Communicates regularly with parents and guardians of students. Adheres to school, district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws. Participates in school-related activities, programs or meetings as assigned by the Principal and/or the Superintendent. Maintains a variety of records as required by school district policies, state and federal law or as assigned by the Principal. Provides instruction specific to teaching assignment consistent with school and district program requirements or curriculum, Kentucky's Core Content for Assessment and Program of Studies and national teacher standards. Serves as a member of the ARC (Admissions and Release Committee) in determining eligibility of students for special education programs; assists in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of IEP (Individual Education Plan). Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal, program supervisor or the Superintendent.
TERM OF SERVICE
Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
