187Primary Purpose:
To provide an approved ESL education program that fosters English proficiency, academic learning, and personal growth for Emergent Bilingual/ESL students at designated campus(es). This position provides direct instruction for designated Emergent Bilingual/ESL students, conducts professional development as appropriate, and collaborates with teachers to provide guidance and expertise in best practices for supporting Emergent Bilingual/ESL students.Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree from accredited university/college Valid teaching certificate for the appropriate grade level/content area Bilingual or ESL certification/endorsement (required)Spanish Speaking, Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices and interventions for Emergent Bilingual/ESL students Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of the State and Federal Laws pertaining to Emergent Bilingual/ESL instruction and assessment programsExperience:
Three years of teaching experienceEssential Job Functions:
Plan and use appropriate teaching and learning strategies, activities, and materials that reflect an understanding of the needs of Emergent Bilingual/ESL students Facilitate campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings Collaborate with District and campus personnel to ensure that all LPAC duties and responsibilities are completed as required under Chapter 89 Ensure the accuracy, maintenance, and completion of student LPAC records (physical and digital) Compile pertinent data as needed for campus, District, State, and Federal reports Assist and support the Campus Testing Coordinator with the coordination and execution of state assessments related to Emergent Bilingual/ESL students (TELPAS, STAAR) Conduct annual language assessments as required by the District, State, and Federal programs Work collaboratively with special education teachers to meet the needs and determine appropriate assessments and targets for Emergent Bilingual/ESL students in Special Education Attend LPAC and ARD meetings and advocate for the language needs of Emergent Bilingual/ESL students Work with classroom teachers on professional development for improving instruction for Emergent Bilingual/ESL students Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers as appropriate Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees, as required Demonstration of the ability to get along with people in present assignment Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the positionSupervisory Responsibilities:
