Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students to achieve independence and academic success as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 school year. In this contract position, you'll play a critical role providing individualized instruction and adaptive resources to students with visual impairments. You'll collaborate closely with educators, support teams, and families—all in an onsite capacity—helping students access curriculum, develop essential skills, and reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
Certified and licensed as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or have appropriate special education credentials for visual impairments Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings Ability to implement specialized instructional strategies and adapt curriculum to meet IEP goals Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering alongside multidisciplinary educational teams and families Deep commitment to fostering student growth, self-advocacy, and inclusionCore Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and educational support to students with visual impairments according to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Assess student skills and needs; plan targeted interventions and adaptations to promote academic progress and independence Support students' use of assistive technology, braille, and orientation and mobility skills as needed Consult regularly with teachers and staff to design inclusive classroom environments and accessible materials Communicate observations, progress, and strategies to families and IEP teams This role offers a 37.5 hour work week and will be located onsite within the district.
