Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact on students' lives as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) working in a contract role based in Habersham, GA. This full-time, school-based opportunity runs from July 2026 to early June 2027 and focuses on delivering direct services and vital support for students with visual impairments. The ideal educator will bring expertise in Braille, customized instruction, and collaboration within educational teams.
Key Qualifications:
Active Georgia TVI licensure/certification is required Current Georgia Educator Certificate Previous experience teaching in school-based settings, especially supporting students with visual impairments Background and proficiency in Braille instruction and the expanded core curriculum (ECC) Experience working in classrooms with students diagnosed with ASD or in severe/profound settings is a plus Reliable transportation for in-person coverage as needed
Core Duties:
Deliver specialized TVI services directly to students, adapting teaching methods for diverse visual needs Participate and collaborate in IEP meetings, monitor progress, and provide detailed reports for student plans Support Braille/expanded core curriculum instruction and help students develop functional life skills Coordinate and complete Medicaid billing when applicable Maintain clear communication with school staff, families, and fellow specialists
