Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a full-time, contract position close to Attleboro, MA. You'll play a crucial role in fostering independence and confidence for students with visual impairments, working collaboratively with educators and families to ensure every learner can access and excel in their educational environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Active Massachusetts Visually Impaired License required. Prior experience teaching or supporting visually impaired students, with knowledge of adaptive technology, preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs). Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere. Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and teaching strategies.
What You'll Do:
Develop and implement instruction that meets the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments. Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure comprehensive support. Conduct assessments to determine students' strengths and areas for growth. Teach skills such as Braille, assistive technology, orientation, and mobility as needed. Monitor progress, update goals, and contribute to IEP meetings. Advocate for accessibility and the removal of barriers within the school environment.
