Teacher - Jerseyville Head Start

Illinois Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) is looking to hire a Full Time Teacher for its Head Start Center in Jerseyville, IL. (Position to start 8/03/2026.)

Responsibilities:

Teach children, ages 3-5, with structured activities in a classroom setting Plan and prepare lesson plans and activities that contribute to children's growth and development Assess children on an ongoing basis utilizing approved assessment tools.

Required Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Other degrees considered but individual must have a minimum of 21 semester hours in child development courses with willingness to obtain 30 semester hours within 2 years. Prior training and experience in comprehensive child development programs is desirable. Ability to relate positively to children and parents. Ability to work as a team member. Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must be able to successfully pass a background check. This is a full time position during the normal school year (August to May). Would be eligible for unemployment during the two months off with no disruption in benefits. (Position to start on 8/03/2026.) This position includes excellent benefits and generous vacation, personal and sick time accruals, as well as 12 paid holidays per year.
