Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple educational settings. This contract opportunity is designed for a skilled educator to collaborate with students ranging in age from early childhood through grade 12, ensuring their academic and social development through specialized instruction. In this dynamic, district-wide role, you'll provide direct teaching tailored to individual needs and work alongside school staff and families to foster the best outcomes. Assignments may involve both mainstream classrooms and specialized environments, with an emphasis on creating accessible, inclusive learning experiences.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid state teaching licensure with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement, or eligibility Demonstrated proficiency in sign language (ASL and/or Signed English preferred) Experience with a variety of communication modalities, including spoken language approaches Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best instructional practices Prior experience developing and implementing IEPs Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with adapting curriculum and managing assistive technology
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing across EC-12 Adapt general education curriculum and integrate assistive technologies as needed Facilitate communication, whether via sign language or spoken language, depending on individual student need Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in learning environments Develop measurable IEP goals, track progress, and participate in team meetings Support staff with instructional strategies and accommodations Travel within the district to multiple locations as assigned Be part of a rewarding assignment shaping the educational journey of diverse learners.
