Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a specialist in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education! This contract opportunity allows you to use your expertise to empower learners and collaborate with a passionate educational team. Work directly with students, teachers, and families to foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education. Demonstrated experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs) and legal regulations related to special education. Ability to employ various instructional strategies tailored to diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Flexibility and adaptability within a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver individualized lessons in accordance with IEP goals for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure student success. Provide resources and training to staff and parents on best practices in Deaf education. Support student access to educational materials and classroom activities utilizing assistive technology and adaptive methodologies. Participate in student evaluations, IEP meetings, and ongoing progress monitoring. Cultivate a positive, supportive atmosphere that promotes language development and self-advocacy skills. Maintain accurate reporting and documentation in compliance with local and federal guidelines.
