Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the upcoming 2026/27 school year. This full-time, contract position offers you the chance to work closely with a high school student, making a significant difference in their academic and personal growth. The schedule follows a Monday through Friday routine from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM CST, allowing you to enjoy afternoons off and maintain work-life balance. This role is based on-site and will start on August 4, 2026.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant area Experience supporting high school-aged students with hearing differences Proficiency with different communication modalities such as ASL, lip reading, and assistive technology Strong ability to develop individual education plans (IEPs) tailored for DHH students Collaborative mindset for working with school staff, families, and related service providers Excellent communication and advocacy skills Adaptability and commitment to supporting diverse learning needs in an in-person setting
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction and support to one high school student with hearing loss Assess student progress, maintaining thorough documentation and adapting strategies as needed Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion Provide guidance to students, staff, and families regarding best practices for communication and learning Contribute to meetings, case conferences, and the ongoing development of effective educational plans This is a chance to foster student independence and confidence in a welcoming educational environment.
