Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a direct impact in the educational journey of students by serving as a dedicated paraprofessional in a school environment near Elmira, NY. This contract opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting diverse learners and want to be part of a collaborative, student-centered culture.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting strongly preferred Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills Ability to work effectively under the direction of classroom teachers and special education staff Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries within a school context Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, including those with learning differences or behavioral needs Assist in classroom management, helping maintain a positive and structured environment Support instructional activities and reinforce lessons under the guidance of teaching staff Document student progress and report observations as needed Help prepare lesson materials and classroom resources Encourage student engagement and participation in academic and social activities Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all students
